“Grady Sibert is one of the best constructors I have worked with.”
-Javier Barba
For two years I was the construction manager of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars (SLWC) in Napa Valley. During this time SLWC undertook approximately $10MM worth of capital improvement projects which I oversaw along with managing the day to day maintenance of the estate. The most significant projects undertaken during this time included: site master planning, design of an exhibition kitchen which has since been constructed, construction of a tank shade structure, adding a second floor to the largest existing winery building, remodeling the estate guest house, barrel storage caves and the caves round room, great room and arcade; the latter three featured in the June 2003 issue of Architectural Digest.
As the owner’s representative on these projects, my involvement ran from conceptualization through completion and occupancy. I oversaw the project budgets, schedules, documentation, coordinated all entitlements and permitting with Napa County, negotiated contracts with design teams, contractors and vendors, and managed an in-house construction crew. Some projects were handled completely by SLWC with design direction coming from the Winiarski family and project execution occurring with employees of SLWC. Other projects were beyond typical complexity, involving design services by world renowned architect Javier Barba of Spain, architects and engineers of record, use permit modifications and a portion of project contractors and vendors contracted directly with SLWC instead of the general contractor.
